UCO Wins MIAA Title With Win On Final Day Of Season

Bronchos Beat UNK 6-1 To Clinch Third MIAA Regular Season Championship

KEARNEY, Neb. – Central Oklahoma won the MIAA regular season title with a 7-0 win at Nebraska Kearney on the final day of the 2026 season.

UCO wrapped up the regular season with a 16-3 overall record and an 8-1 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos are co-champions with Washburn (17-3, 8-1) and will be the No. 1 seed in next week's MIAA Women's Tennis Championship thanks to a 4-3 win over WU back on March 28 in Edmond.

This season is the third time Central Oklahoma has won an MIAA regular season title in women's tennis (2021, 2022). The Bronchos have won four MIAA postseason tournament titles (2019, 2021, 2022, 2025).

Central Oklahoma won the doubles point just like every other MIAA match this season – with wins at all three positions. UCO went a perfect 27-0 in doubles contests in 2026.

Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo won quickly, 6-1, at the No. 3 position. Mei Hasegawa and Pete Komada, ranked No. 6 in the country in the latest ITA Doubles Top 50, won 6-2 at the No. 1 position. Anika Ouwejan and Ayaka Koga made it a perfect sweep with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

Hasegawa, also ranked No. 20 in the ITA Singles Top 75, won first in singles play to make it 2-0. She picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 to improve to 16-1 on the season, including a 9-0 record in the MIAA.

Komada made it 3-0 with a win at No. 2 singles in a match that ended early. She won 7-5 in the first set and was down 3-2 when her opponent retired to give Komada the match. She improved to 16-3 overall with a 7-2 record in the MIAA.

Soo gave the Bronchos the match and the championship with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

Yurchenko added the next point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Dilay Ata added another to make it 6-0 with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.

The final match of the day was No. 3 singles, where Ouwejan won her first set 6-2, but dropped the second 7-5. Kearney would get its only point of the match here, winning a 10-8 tiebreaker to get the win.

Central Oklahoma heads to Springfield, Missouri next week looking to repeat as MIAA postseason tournament champs. The NCAA Central Regional follows. The Bronchos are ranked fourth in the latest regional, with the top six teams making the postseason.
