Bronchos Run-Rule TAMIU Twice On Friday

Central Oklahoma Wins Both Games 9-1 In Six Innings

EDMOND – No. 17 Central Oklahoma posted a pair of 9-1 run-rule victories in Friday's non-conference doubleheader against Texas A&M International at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.

UCO improved to 21-5 on the season with the wins. The Bronchos have just two non-conference games left on the season, including Tuesday's matchup at No. 12 Oklahoma Christian.

In Friday's first game, Central Oklahoma fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning. But a six-run fourth inning turned the tide.

Brooklyn Lyles hit an RBI double to left center, Kindal Biggs and Sherri Mason scored on a throwing error, and Rylee Lemos pelted a two-run home run out to right center that gave the Bronchos a commanding lead.

Haley Gallo added a two-run homer in the sixth and Mason's RBI single scored McKenzie Niehus to give the Bronchos a 9-1 advantage and a walkoff run-rule victory.

Shelby Beard improved to 11-3 on the season with the complete game win. She threw 6.0 innings, struck out seven batters, and only allowed the one run on three hits.

Lemos powered the Bronchos in the opener, going 3-for-4 with the two RBIs. Brooklyn Ryan went 2-for-4 and Gallo was 2-for-3. Hannah Demoff, Lyles, and Mason all collected two hits in the game.

The Bronchos got to the same result in Game 2 in different order. A three-run second inning got it started and the Brochos added one in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth, and then then a three-run home run by Demoff ended in the sixth.

Carleigh Kinnaird got the win in a 4.0 inning start for the Bronchos. The freshman is now 9-1 on the year. She struck out five batters and allowed just one run on two hits. Madison Hamilton finished off the game with three strikeouts in two innings.

Rylee Anglen's RBI groundout scored Lyles to make it 1-0 in the second, then Gallo collected two RBIs on a single to left field when Mason and Lemos scored to give UCO the 3-0 lead.

Mason hit an RBI double in the third to score Jenna Jobe and make it 4-0, Jobe scored Lemos on an RBI groundout in the fourth to make it 5-0, and Ryan scored Anglen on a single in the fifth to make it 6-1.

Demoff ended it early with a three-run home run to left field, scoring Mari Scott and Niehus to push the lead to 9-1 and give the Bronchos back-to-back run-rule wins.

Ryan went 3-for-4 in the second game. Lemos, Gallo, Jobe, Demoff, Lyles, and Mason all had one hit each.

Central Oklahoma plays at Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday in Oklahoma City. The Bronchos will host OC in April. MIAA play begins next weekend for UCO against Washburn and Central Missouri in Edmond.
