Central Oklahoma Beat Harding 7-0 Wednesday In Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Central Oklahoma took down Harding 7-0 in a non-conference match this afternoon at Burns Park.

UCO advanced to 6-2 on the season with conference play coming up in two weeks. The Broncos will remain in Arkansas for the next two days for matches against Henderson State and Arkansas Tech.

UCO jumped out with the early 1-0 lead after winning all doubles matches.

Ayaka Koga and Anika Ouwejan won their matchup 6-2. Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.

No. 18 Mei Hasegawa and Pete Komada recorded a 6-4 upset against the No.4 ranked pair, giving UCO the advantage heading into singles play.

Komada (No. 54) opened singles action with a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Koga posted another win (6-2, 6-2) to secure two more points for UCO.

No. 32 Hasegawa recorded another point against Harding's No. 44 ranked player. Set one was a 2-6 loss, but she finished strong with sets of 6-2 for the win.

Yurchenko contributed UCO's fifth point after a 6-4, 6-2 win. Ouwejan battled for a triumph (2-6, 6-3, 7-6) to add another point for the team.

On the backend, Soo came in with a 7-5, 6-0 victory to produce the final 7-0 score.

Central Oklahoma will stay in Arkansas to compete at Henderson State on Thursday and at Arkansas Tech on Friday.
