Central Oklahoma Shuts Out Southeastern

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma took down Southeastern Oklahoma State 4-0 Friday afternoon at Broncho Courts.

The Bronchos improved to 3-1 on the season with the win – their third in a row. UCO continues a weekend homestand with Colorado State – Pueblo Saturday at 3 p.m.

Central Oklahoma duo Pete Komada and Mei Hasegawa got a 6-2 at the No. 1 position before SE won 6-1 at No. 3. The Bronchos won the doubles point thanks to a 6-4 from Ayaka Koga and Anika Ouwejan at No. 2, giving UCO the early 1-0 lead in the match.

Komada made quick work of her singles opponent at the No. 2 spot and won 6-0, 6-2 in under an hour to make it 2-0 UCO. Koga followed shortly after with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 to make it 3-0.

UCO only needed one more match for the win but the remaining four would all go to three sets. Hasegawa, Karyna Yurchenko, and Hui Soo all were down 1-0 before tying their matches to force a third set.

Ouwejan won her first set 6-4 and SE won 6-4 in the second to force the third. It would be Ouwejan for the win with a 6-2 finish to give the Bronchos the 4-0 victory.
