Bronchos Beat OBU On First Day Of Arkadelphia Trip

Central Oklahoma Won 6-1 At Ouachita Baptist, Faces Henderson State Sunday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Central Oklahoma swept doubles competition and continued dominant play into singles contests as the Bronchos beat Ouachita Baptist 6-1 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference dual.
 
The Bronchos improved to 3-1 on the season with the win. UCO plays Henderson State Sunday morning to wrap up the two-game road trip.
 
Karyna Yurchenko and Hui Soo won 6-1 at No. 3 doubles just before Pete Komada and Nefeli Zafeiri won by the same score at No. 1 doubles. Anika Ouwejan and Ayaka Koga also won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
UCO took the 1-0 lead into singles play and kept up the pace.
 
Komada won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to make it 2-0 and Koga won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to give UCO a 3-0 lead. Ouachita Baptist did get one point on the board before the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Zafeiri at No. 1 singles.
 
But UCO would get Yurchenko's 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, Soo's 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles, and Ouwejan's 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles to pile on the points in the 6-1 victory.
 
With Ouwejan and Koga's win at No. 2 doubles, the duo improved to 4-0 this season. Koga is also 4-0 at No. 4 singles this season.
 
Henderson State is 3-2 this season and beat Arkansas Fort Smith Friday afternoon.
