Central Oklahoma Routs Rogers State

Bronchos Win By 30 In Claremore As UCO Fights For Postseason Position

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as the Bronchos earned a 74-44 blowout victory at Rogers State Saturday afternoon.

UCO trailed 5-2 after two minutes of play before an 8-0 run put the Bronchos in front, and in control. After scoring the last two baskets of the first quarter to go in front 16-9, UCO scored the first six in the second quarter to build a 22-9 lead. The 10-0 run was a sign of things to come.

"We did a good job of playing all four quarters tonight," UCO head women's basketball coach Emma Andrews said. "We started out good, but the girls did a great job of keeping a high level of play for all four quarters. Our defense was good today and we need every win we can get at this point in the season."

Central Oklahoma is now 7-17 this season following Saturday's win. The Bronchos, which are 12-0 all-time against Rogers State, are 6-9 in the MIAA. UCO is now in a three-way tie for eighth place in the league standings with two weeks left in the regular season.

Central's remaining games include both Central Missouri and Northeastern State, which are also 6-9 in league play. The Bronchos also play Washburn (8-7) and Arkansas Fort Smith (9-6).

Saturday in Claremore, the Bronchos not only hit a dozen 3-pointers, but shot 44.4 percent in doing so. UCO was 41.8 percent overall (28-for-67) but went 12-for-27 from behind the 3-point line. Central also went 6-for-9 at the free-throw line.

Jordyn Turner led the Bronchos with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The senior forward was 6-for-10 from the floor, 1-for-2 from deep, and 3-for-3 at the line in 19 minutes of play.

Korie Allensworth and Karly Wadsworth both scored 12 points on Saturday. Allensworth went 5-for-8 from the floor, 2-for-3 from deep, and also pulled down seven rebounds to go with two assists and a steal.

Wadsworth went 4-for-14, 4-for-9 from behind the arc, and had three rebounds and three assists. Her four made 3-pointers moved her closer to another UCO record. Ami Guffy (1998-2000) made 190 threes, more than any other player in school history. Olivia Mason (2013-17) made 184. Wadsworth has 183 makes with at least four games left in her career (2020-25).

Talia Pogi added nine points, five rebounds, five steals, and two assists on Saturday. Peyton Walker also scored nine points to go with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. LaKysia Johnson chipped in eight points, Alexis Martin scored five, and Gracee Miller added three points.

Central Oklahoma visits Washburn and Central Missouri next weekend, then closes the regular season with Arkansas Fort Smith and Northeastern State in two weeks. The MIAA is utilizing KPI (Key Performance Index) as a rating metric to determine seeding for the MIAA Basketball Championship next month in Kansas City. The top 10 teams will make the field. UCO was 11th in the KPI last week.
