UCO Floors McPherson In Edmond

Bronchos Win By 50-Plus In Non-Conference Matchup

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma picked up where it left off before Christmas break in its return to play Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House where the Bronchos won 96-44 over McPherson.

UCO improved to 5-7 on the season with its fourth consecutive win. The Bronchos scored a season-high 75 points in the final game of the first semester but topped that with 96 on Tuesday.

The 96 points are the most in a game since December 2022 and the 52-point margin of victory is also the fifth largest in school history.

"We played really well and we're happy about that coming out of the break," first-year UCO head women's basketball coach Hannah Moeller said. "We outrebounded them on both ends of the floor, forced a lot of turnovers, and we shot better than we have all season, so good things all around.

"It's a good way to go into conference play," Moeller continued. "We still have a lot of work to do but we're figuring things out. The last four have been good but we need to continue to get better too."

Central Oklahoma scored at least 20 points in every quarter for the first time this season. The Bronchos took 20 shots in all four quarters and ended the game 39-for-80, 48.8 percent, a season best. UCO was 6-for-19 from behind the 3-point line and 12-for-19 at the free-throw line.

Jerney Bennett and Nykaiya Dillard led the Bronchos with both scoring a game-high 18 points each. Kaitlyn McCarn scored 14 and Bobbie Fouquet scored 12 to give the Bronchos four in double figures.

Bennett added six rebounds and four blocked shots to go with a pair of steals and a pair of assists. Dillard went 7-for-10 off the bench, including one 3-pointer, and she also had two blocks and a steal.

McCarn added eight boards and two steals and Fouquet had a season-high 11 rebounds to go with three assists, one steal and one blocked shot.

Peyton Walker scored nine points on three 3-pointers and she had four assists, three rebounds and a steal. Harley Harbour had seven points, four rebounds and three blocks. Parker Simonsen, Talia Pogi, Olivia Quapaw, and Madison Roberts all scored four points and Emorie Adams rounded out the scoring with two points.

Central Oklahoma's 17-0 run to start the game set the tone for the blowout win. The Bronchos were 8-for-10 from the floor with one 3-pointer in the first six minutes of the game. The run started after nearly 90 seconds of scoreless play to begin the game. UCO led 27-7 after one quarter.

The Bronchos put together an 8-0 run in the middle of the second quarter and extended the lead to 47-26 at halftime. Central Oklahoma had a 10-0 run in the third quarter and then put together another impressive stretch in the fourth quarter, outscoring McPherson 16-0 in 3:22 coming out of the final media timeout of the game.

Central Oklahoma turns to a new year and will play all conference games in 2026. The Bronchos are 0-3 in league play after three road losses in early December. UCO travels to Newman on Saturday and hosts Northeastern State and Arkansas Fort Smith next week.
