UCO Falls At Northwest

Bronchos Take 19 Shots, Lose 1-0 Road Match

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Central Oklahoma dropped the first of four straight road contests Friday afternoon with a 1-0 decision at Northwest Missouri.

The Bronchos are now 2-4-3 on the season and 0-2-1 in the MIAA. UCO heads to Missouri Western on Sunday afternoon.

"We had so many chances and we couldn't get anything through," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We put ourselves in position to win, but it didn't happen for us. We've said this a lot this year, our defense is really good, but we're not getting enough with our offense."

Central Oklahoma took 19 shots on Friday and put 12 on goal while Northwest took just eight total shots and only put two on goal. However, a 14th minute goal by Makenna West got past UCO keeper Avery Bass and that was the difference in the game.

Bass saved the only other shot on target while the offense couldn't get one through.

Freshman Jane Lockhart took three shots to lead the team and she put two on goal. Elena Conaway, Rebecca Tweedy, Caleah Carter, Rebekah George, and Izzy Van Zanten all took two shots in the game. Jaci Decker, Megan Wilson, Jordan Tanges, Greta Likens, Sheridan Ross, and Callie Harbert all got one shot off in the game.

Missouri Western improved to 5-0-2 on the season with a win Friday against Newman. The Griffons of St. Joseph, Missouri are 1-0-1 in conference play. Kickoff Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m.  at MWSU's Spratt Stadium.
