Bronchos Score Thrice In Shutout Win At Tahlequah

Central Oklahoma Beats Northeastern State 3-0 In MIAA Road Triumph

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Central Oklahoma turned a scoreless halftime match into a rout as the Bronchos beat Northeastern State 3-0 Thursday night in the MIAA.

UCO improved to 6-4-5 on the season with the win and is now 4-2-3 in the MIAA with the conference victory.

"We had some chances to do it earlier in the game, but we kept working and fighting and they found a way through eventually," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "It was good to see different people get involved and good to see our defense get another shutout."

Emma Fioretti, Caleah Carter, and Evelyn Sydnes all scored for the Bronchos, who outshot NSU 15-9 in the game. The Bronchos held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Avery Bass recorded yet another shutout with three saves to earn the win.

Fioretti and Carter led UCO with three shots each. In the 51st minute, Fioretti got the ball on the left side of the box wide open. Rebekah George sent it to her and she took the shot from about 15 yards and put it in the back of the net to give UCO a 1-0 lead.

Carter scored in the 65th minute. Adria Ramirez took a shot from outside the 18-yard box and hit the crossbar. It bounced back into play and Carter was there to bury the rebound and give UCO the 2-0 lead.

With just over seven minutes remaining, Lauren Piper sent in a cross that the NSU goalkeeper dove to try and stop. The ball bounced past her and Sydnes made a sliding shot to score the final tally in the 3-0 win.

Bass needed just one save to preserve a clean sheet in the first half and the game was scoreless at the break. She made two more saves in the second half to earn her eight shutout of the season and the 20th of her career.

Central Oklahoma was scheduled to play NSU on Friday night but incoming weather altered the schedule. The Bronchos will still visit Rogers State on Sunday to wrap up the final road game of the 2025 regular season. UCO hosts Pittsburg State on Halloween and Newman Nov. 5 to close out the schedule. The 2025 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship begins with the quarterfinals Nov. 9 on campus sites.
