Bronchos Drop Texas Matinee

Central Oklahoma Falls 3-1 At Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Central Oklahoma dropped its first contest of the new season Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 setback at Midwestern State in a non-conference clash.

"We got a lot of opportunities, but we didn't make the most of them," UCO head soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "Our defense wasn't as good today and we let them take too much. This game will be a good learning lesson for all of us as we move on to the next one."

UCO is 1-1 on the season after a 4-1 victory earlier this week at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Sunday, despite outshooting Midwestern State 20-14, Central couldn't get one in the back of the net. Trailing 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 early in the second half, the Bronchos found some hope late in the game. UCO defender Evelyn Sydnes scored the lone goal for the Bronchos off an assist by Jordan Hahn in the 64th minute to make it 2-1.

Unfortunately, MSU found the back of the net shortly after that to put the game away 3-1.

Avery Bass played the full 90 in goal for the Bronchos. The senior keeper saw MSU take 14 shots, nine of which were on goal. Bass made six saves and gave up three goals.

Jordan Hahn led the UCO offense with five shots taken. She put two on goal. Six other Bronchos put one shot on goal in the game.

Central Oklahoma will make its home debut this week. The Bronchos are hosting Angelo State Thursday at 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field. UCO will also host nationally-ranked Dallas Baptist next Sunday afternoon in Edmond.
