Bronchos Beat Emporia For MIAA Road Win

Central Oklahoma Earns 3-1 Decision At Emporia State Sunday

EMPORIA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma wrapped up opening weekend in the MIAA with an unbeaten record after the Bronchos took a decisive 3-1 victory at Emporia State Sunday.

UCO improved to 4-3-1 on the season and is 1-0-1 in the MIAA. Central tied No. 21 Washburn 0-0 on Friday. Emporia State is 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league play.

"I think we're most happy with scoring first and scoring early," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We've been talking about not getting behind, and to be up 2-0 so quickly gave us that much more confidence to play our game and execute. The girls did a great job today."

Madison Linavong scored in the fourth minute and Caleah Carter made it 2-0 in the 11th minute. Emporia got on the board early in the second half, but Rebekah George scored on a free kick in the 86th minute to finish off the win.

Avery Bass played the full 90 in goal for the Bronchos and made two saves. Emporia took 12 shots in the game, but only put three on goal. Bass let one by, but stopped the other two.

Central Oklahoma took 10 shots in the game and put seven on goal, making Emporia's defense and goalkeeper work all afternoon.

UCO will play at home again next weekend, hosting Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western in Edmond for two MIAA matchups. The Bronchos host NWMSU Friday at 7 p.m. and MWSU next Sunday at 1 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field.
