Bronchos Play No. 21 Washburn To Scoreless Draw

Central Oklahoma Opens MIAA Play With A Shutout On The Road

TOPEKA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma opened MIAA play Friday evening with a scoreless draw at No. 21 Washburn.

The Bronchos are now 3-3-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in league play. UCO will continue its road trip Sunday afternoon at Emporia State.

"We're really happy with the results, especially to hold a team like this without a goal," UCO head women's soccer coach Amel Muhamedagic said. "We would have liked to get one through and get the win, but a tie on the road isn't a bad result and, again, it's good to get a shutout against a Top 25 team."

Central Oklahoma senior goalkeeper Avery Bass played the full 90 minutes in goal and recorded her first shutout of the season. The veteran keeper made six saves as Washburn outshot the Bronchos 11-6 overall and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Bass was on the defense most of the night. Washburn also had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Central Oklahoma managed six total shots in the game and put four on goal. Freshman forward Jordan Hahn was the only Broncho to take more than one shot. She took two and both were on goal.

Madison Linavong, Harmony Turner, Rebekah George, and Jordan Tanges all took one shot each. George and Tanges put their shots on goal.

Emporia State is 3-2-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in MIAA play after beating Newman 2-0 on Friday afternoon.
