Bronchos Drop Final Non-Conference Match

Central Oklahoma Loses 2-1 At Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma continued to alternate wins and losses Monday night when the Bronchos fell on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision at Oklahoma Christian.

The Bronchos are 3-3 on the season and finish non-conference play for the year with that record. UCO's first six games – the first six for first-year head coach Amel Muhamedagic – have gone win, loss, win, loss, win, loss.

"We had our chances tonight," Muhamedagic said. "We've given up too many goals in the opening minutes this season and that's something we have to correct going into conference play. But we still had some chances, they just didn't go our way tonight."

OC took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on Monday night, but the Bronchos didn't take long to respond. In the 18th minute, Madison Linavong got a pass from Rebekah George as both players moved quickly up the field near the 18-yard box. Linavong fired the shot and tied the game, 1-1.

The game remained tied through halftime and well into the second half. Nearly 50 minutes of play later, OC took the lead. The Bronchos had several chances down the stretch, but couldn't get the equalizer.

Central Oklahoma outshot Oklahoma Christian 15-5, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. But OC's keeper held her ground and made seven saves to preserve the win.

Olivia Vigil played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Bronchos and only made one save in the game as OC put up just three shots.

The Bronchos will now move into MIAA play and start with No. 20 Washburn Friday night in Topeka, Kansas. UCO will also play at Emporia State on Sunday.
