UCO Drops Road Match At Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. – Central Oklahoma dropped its final road dual of the regular season Tuesday with the Bronchos falling 5-2 at 28th-ranked Cameron.
 
UCO took a 1-0 lead with doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 3, but only got a win at No. 1 singles in falling for the fourth consecutive dual.
 
Central Oklahoma is now 5-9 on the season. The Bronchos have three regular season matches remaining, all MIAA contests in Edmond. UCO hosts Newman and Emporia State this weekend, and Northeastern State next weekend. The Bronchos are 1-4 in the MIAA this season.
 
Tuesday, 24th-ranked Blythe Buntrock and Pete Komada won a 7-5 decision at No. 1 doubles. After Nefeli Zafeiri and Ayaka Koga dropped a 6-4 matchup at the No. 2 position, Central won the doubles point with a 6-3 at No. 3 by Karyna Yurchenko and Anika Ouwejan.
 
Zafeiri, who entered the ITA Singles Top 75 at No. 69 last week, won a big battle at No. 1 over 38th-ranked Vasilisa Polunova, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
 
Unfortunately for the Bronchos, there were no more points to be won.
 
Komada dropped a tough three-set battle at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6. Buntrock lost 1-6, 6-7 (4-7) at No. 3 singles. Yurchenko lost 6-0, 6-4, Ouwejan lost 7-5, 6-2, and Manon Hallemans made her collegiate debut at No. 6 singles, falling 6-2, 6-2.
