Broncho Golf Day Set For April 5

Fundraiser Benefitting Both Men's And Women's Programs To Be Held At KickingBird Golf Club

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma's golf programs are hosting Broncho Golf Day, a first of its kind fundraiser benefitting both men's and women's programs at UCO.

The event is scheduled for Friday, April 5 at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond. Registration begins at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon, and a 1 p.m. shotgun start is scheduled to begin play. Awards and dinner are also included and scheduled for 6 p.m.

"We are looking forward to joining forces with the men's team, bringing back as many alumni as possible, as well as a day of fun with our supporters," UCO head women's coach Michael Bond said. "It is a unique format where each three-person team will play with a current student-athlete. We look to make this an annual event to offset the rising costs of our programs."

"Broncho Golf Day is an event you won't want to miss," UCO head men's golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "It will be an incredible opportunity to bring together our players' families, alumni, and supporters and celebrate the past and present of our historic golf programs."

There are two flights for interested golfers. The first is a four-person scramble, where teams of three will sign up and be grouped together with a member of either team. The second flight is an Alumni Flight and will feature a two-person scramble format for former men's and women's golfers from UCO.

KickingBird Golf Club re-opened in 2023 after significant renovations and improvements. Both men's and women's programs train and practice there. UCO's men's squad played there in the fall, finishing second in the Regional Preview. The women's squad is scheduled to play there March 4-5, and the men's team will return for the NCAA Regional Championships May 9-11.
