UCO Tripped In Texas

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Central Oklahoma dropped the first of two road matches in Texas this weekend, falling 5-2 to Lubbock Christian.
 
Central Oklahoma is 1-1 on the season following the loss. Lubbock Christian is 5-0. The Bronchos are also scheduled to play host Angelo State on Saturday.
 
In doubles competition, UCO's sixth-ranked doubles team of Blythe Buntrock and Pete Komada lost 6-4. LCU also won at No. 2 doubles, 7-6 (8-6), over Nefeli Zafeiri and Ayaka Koga.
 
The Bronchos did get one win in doubles play, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles from Karyna Yurchenko and Anika Ouwejan.
 
In singles play, UCO got wins at No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles.
 
Buntrock needed to come back after dropping the first set, 7-6. She won 6-1 and 1-0 (10-3) in the second and third sets to pick up the win. Zafeiri won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
 
Komada lost in three sets at No. 1 singles. Yurchenko, Ouwejan, and Koga, all lost in straight sets at Nos. 4, 5, and 6.
