Central Oklahoma Led Early, Lost Control In 76-53 Loss At Hamilton

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma fought tough with No. 8 Pittsburg State Wednesday night in the first MIAA game of the season for the Bronchos, but a mid-game rally by the guests turned into an unfortunate finish and UCO lost 76-53.

UCO is 1-8 on the season following the loss and now 0-1 in league play. PSU improved to 7-1 on the year and 1-0 in the MIAA.

Central Oklahoma had the lead six different times in a back-and-forth first half, with both defenses flexing their strengths in the first 20 minutes. Pitt State used a 4-0 run to end the first half and gain a 29-27 advantage, then came out with an 8-0 run to start the second half and the Gorillas of Pittsburg, Kansas never looked back.

Pittsburg State pulled away, leading by eight going to the fourth quarter before the 23-point win.

Central Oklahoma shot just 29.7 percent from the floor, making 19 of 64 total shots. The Bronchos were 4-for-18 from behind the 3-point line and 11-for-14 from the free-throw line.
