UCO Announces Student Promotion

$1K Giveaway Highlights Big Weekend On Campus

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon announced a promotion to encourage student attendance at sporting events ahead of a busy week of competition on campus.

"Our students bring a great energy and excitement to our events, and I know our student-athletes love the support," Wagnon said. "They help create a special atmosphere that clearly is helping us have one of our most successful fall seasons in recent history. We want to give those students an opportunity to be rewarded for their support."

Students who attend Thursday night's men's basketball game against No. 3 West Texas A&M will receive a punch card upon entrance and will get their first punch there. Those attending Friday night's volleyball match against No. 24 Washburn will receive a second punch. And students can receive a third punch at Saturday's football game against Emporia State.

A random drawing of cards with all three punches at Saturday's football game will determine three students who will compete in a game on the field for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize.

Each of the three selected students will lineup on the goal line, pass a basketball, serve a volleyball, and finally kick a football. Whichever student makes it the farthest down the field will win $1,000.

The promotion is sponsored by Federated Insurance.

Central Oklahoma's men's basketball team is off to a 2-0 start to the 2024-25 season. UCO has won 20 games in each of the past three seasons.

Central's volleyball team is 25-2 this season and ranked No. 10 in the country. The Bronchos wrap up the regular season this weekend with Friday night's match and another Saturday following the football game.

UCO's football team is 9-1 and ranked No. 8 in the country. The Bronchos look to win their first MIAA championship Saturday at Chad Richison Stadium.
