Bronchos Bully the Bearcats

No. 11 Central Oklahoma Beat Northwest Missouri 3-1 Friday Night In MIAA Play

MARYVILLE, Mo. – No. 11 Central Oklahoma improved to 18-0 Friday night with a 3-1 win at Northwest Missouri in MIAA play.
 
The Bronchos, off to their best start in school history, dropped the first set, but improved its hitting percentage throughout the night, including only a single attack error in the fourth set, to finish off the Bearcats. UCO lost 25-22, then picked up 25-16, 25-20, and 25-13 wins in the next three sets to take the match.
 
Jenna Karp led the way for the Bronchos. The senior middle blocker from Spring, Texas, whose hitting percentage ranks among the best in the country, had a team-high 14 kills. And Karp didn't commit an error on 31 attacks. She finished with a .452 hitting percentage, enough to raise the average that is Top 10 in Division II.
 
Mikaela Garvin added 13 kills and only had two errors, hitting .379 for the night. She added two blocks, one solo, and even chipped in five digs in the game. Lari Migliorino chipped in 11 kills and Sydney Huck had 10 to lead the Bronchos.
 
Lindsey Houran dished out the offensive outburst once again, tallying 38 assists in the match. She added two service aces and six digs.
 
Katie Le led a well-balanced back row on defense. She had a team-high 21 digs, while Riley Roberts had 18. Kaitlyn Parrott was also heavily involved and had 13 digs, and Huck chipped in 10 herself.
 
Central Oklahoma continues its weekend road trip in Missouri Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos take on Missouri Western before returning home for two MIAA matches next weekend in Edmond.
