Bronchos Beat Up Bulldogs in OKC

Central Oklahoma Picked Up A 10-2 Win Against Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday Night

OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma shifted the sixth game of the Edmond First Pitch Classic south to the state capital but the Bronchos continued their dominant start to the 2023 season.

Central Oklahoma 10, Southwestern Oklahoma State 2.

Noah Olson went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI and two runs scored and Seth Gray and Orlando Gonzalez both hit home runs to spur the offense.

Chris Spry had a solid start for the Bronchos, striking out five in his UCO debut. He went 4 2/3 innings, allowing just three hits and two runs. Aiden Bagwell improved to 2-0 with another effective relief performance. Jeb Jenkins threw three innings of shutout work before Jace Farmer closed out the ninth.

Southwestern Oklahoma State scored first with a solo home run in the top of the second innings. But the Bronchos responded with a dominant finish from there.

UCO put up three in the third inning. Gray had an RBI groundout that scored Jaden Parsons to tie the game, 1-1. Cameron Uselton belted a 2-RBI double to right center to score Shae Morrison and Olson after that.

The Bronchos added four more in the fourth. Olson singled to score Landen Wood and then Gray smashed his home run back to Edmond, scoring Morrison and Olson and giving UCO a 7-1 lead.

SWOSU got one back in the fifth to make it, 7-2, but UCO kept pushing back.

Gonzalez hit his home run – a solo shot to right center – in the bottom of the seventh inning. Central Oklahoma picked up its last two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the eighth inning from Morrison and Uselton.

UCO will go back to Edmond to wrap up the fifth annual Edmond First Pitch Classic Sunday. A light-pole failure in the left field bullpen area caused a postponement Friday night and the issue also forced the Bronchos to Oklahoma City for Saturday's contest.

UCO will host Northern State vs. Pittsburg State at 10 a.m. Sunday before Southwestern Oklahoma State plays Emporia State at 1 p.m. The Bronchos wrap up the nine-game festival Sunday at 4 p.m. against Oklahoma Baptist.
