Riley Lifts Bronchos Past SOSU

EDMOND (Feb. 19) – Kinlee Riley made the most of her first collegiate start Sunday afternoon at Gerry Pinkston Stadium, driving in three runs – including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh – to lift No. 6-ranked Central Oklahoma past Southeastern Oklahoma 5-4.

The freshman started in right field and had a two-run double in the second for her first career hit, then gave the Bronchos the walk-off win with an RBI single in the seventh. Riley had appeared briefly in three games this season, scoring two runs while walking in her only previous plate appearance.

UCO improved to 7-3 with its seventh straight win over the Savage Storm and was set to take on Southwestern Oklahoma in the final game of the three-day Raising Cane's Festival.

The Bronchos led 4-1 after four innings only to see SOSU pull even at 4-all after six.

Tatum Long got UCO's game-winning rally started in the seventh with a one-out walk, then pinch-runner Rylee Anglen raced around to third on Amelya Huggins' single through the right side. Riley followed with a soft dribbler that SOSU's shortstop had no play on and Anglen scooted home with the winning run.

Riley, Huggins, Rylee Lemos and Emily Deramus had two hits apiece to lead a nine-hit attack. Corinna Rivas earned the pitching win with 1 1/3 innings of one-hit relief work.

SOSU broke on top 1-0 in the top of the first inning, with the Bronchos using a four-run volley in the second to take the lead.

Shayla Harper reached on a fielder's choice and Long walked before Huggins lined a double to center field to score Harper. Riley followed with her first hit, driving an 0-2 pitch down the left field line for a two-run double, and Mikayla Rutland's sacrifice fly made it 4-1.

It stayed that way until the top of the fifth when the Savage Storm pushed across two runs to pull within 4-3 and SOSO tied it with a single score in the sixth.
