Bronchos Blowout UMSL In Vegas

Central Oklahoma Wins By 30 To Finish High Desert Classic 2-0

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Central Oklahoma used a big run in the first half to take control as the Bronchos cruised to an 89-59 win over Missouri St. Louis Tuesday evening. UCO wrapped up the revived High Desert Classic 2-0 and improved to 11-1 on the season.
 
The Bronchos are off for Christmas break and will return Dec. 29 to host Fort Hays State. Central is done with non-conference play for the season. Beginning with Fort Hays, UCO has 18 MIAA games on the schedule.
 
Mike Quick Jr. led the Bronchos with 19 points, hitting 5 of 6 shots including 4 of 5 from behind the 3-point line. Quick Jr. was also 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. He added two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 20 minutes of playing time.
 
Danquez Dawsey continued his stellar play, scoring 17 points to go with nine assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Dawsey went 7-for-11 from the floor and made all three of his free-throws.
 
Jaden Wells was the third Broncho in double figures with 14 points. He went 5-for-11 from the floor, hit two 3-pointers and both of his free-throws. Wells added three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
 
While not in double figures, Luke Haasl and Jalyn Turner both had big games and both finished with nine points. Haasl had three assists, two blocks and one rebound. Turner had one board, one block and one rebound. Preston Aymond also had five points and four rebounds for UCO.
 
Tuesday, all 14 Bronchos played in the blowout victory and 10 of 14 scored. Parker Hannah added six off the bench, Jarreth Ingram scored five points in three minutes, and Matthew Willenborg, Majok Majouk, and Caiden Punt each scored two.
 
Missouri St. Louis opened the game in front. There was one tie in the early going, 7-7, but UMSL went on a 6-0 run after that to take a 13-7 lead. Then the Bronchos went in front, 15-13, on of Quick Jr.'s four 3-pointers. St. Louis tied it again, 15-15, but Quick Jr. hit another 3-pointer and the Bronchos never looked back. Central Oklahoma went on a 17-2 run from there to take control of the game.
 
UCO held a 44-27 lead at halftime and outscored UMSL 45-32 in the second half.
