Bronchos Fall In MIAA Afternoon Affair

Central Oklahoma Stumped In Fourth Quarter In Loss To Nebraska Kearney

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma rallied for a fourth quarter lead but let one slip away against Nebraska Kearney Monday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos took a 56-53 lead with 5:36 left in the fourth quarter, but never made another shot as UNK finished the game on a 13-0 run.
 
UCO shot just 30.1 percent from the floor in the game, making 22 of 73 shots. The Bronchos were 7-for-30 from the free-throw line and only 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. UNK was 35.2 percent overall, 5-for-19 from outside, and the Lopers went 23-for-27 from the line.
 
Reagan Fox, Karly Wadsworth, and LaKysia Johnson led the Bronchos on offense. Fox had a team-high 14 points, Wadsworth added 13, and Johnson had a dozen. Only seven Bronchos scored in the game of the 14 that played. Talia Pogi added seven, Aliyah Llanusa and Alena Wilson both scored four, and Lexi Foreman added two.
 
Fox also had a team-high six rebounds. She went 5-for-16 from the floor, hit two 3-pointers and both of her free-throw attempts. Fox added three assists and three steals. Wadsworth was 5-for-13 from the floor, made three 3-pointers, and also had three rebounds and one steal. Johnson went 5-for-9 from the floor.
 
Kearney outscored UCO 29-15 in the first quarter and had its biggest lead of the game, 36-19, midway through the second quarter. UCO made a big rally in the second half, outscoring the Lopers 23-13 in the third quarter. They had a 7-2 advantage in the fourth before the stifling rally by UNK ended the game.
 
UCO is back in action Tuesday evening to take on Fort Hays State at 5:30 p.m. inside Hamilton Field House. It will be the last game of 2023 for the Bronchos.
