OKLAHOMA CITY – University of Central Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman, as well as former player and alumnus Ed Martin, were inducted into the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions Wednesday at the Petroleum Club Event Center.

Hoffman and Martin were joined by Marshall Snipes, Milt Cooper, Ted Owens, and Steve Largent

Martin, from Wilburton, Oklahoma, played for the Bronchos of then Central State from 1966-69. His career includes service on several boards, including State Board Chairman of the FCA. He also had a 31-year tenure with the Oklahoma Publishing Company.

Hoffman, who is from Oklahoma City, graduated from Putnam City and soon after, Oklahoma Baptist. He got into coaching and eventually became head coach of his alma mater, OBU. Hoffman also coached at Southern Nazarene and led their women's team to a national championship in 1987. He made stops at UT Pan American and Mercer before coming to Central Oklahoma in 2019.

Hoffman has won 683 games as a college head coach and 595 as a men's coach. He is numerous halls of fame. In 2014, Hoffman was awarded the FCA John Lotz National Basketball Coach of the Year, an honor he lists as a top career highlight.

Martin spoke in his speech about influencers, the modern pop-culture definition of the word, and his take on the matter.

"FCA, those are the real influencers," Martin said in his speech. "Influencers for Christ."

"FCA became a big part of my life in 1973," Hoffman said in his speech, referencing an opportunity he had to go to Colorado as a sophomore in high school and attend FCA Camp.

"We got to Fort Collins and we got to Colorado State," Hoffman said. "And it was just an amazing moment in my life. When I got there and got into that huddle, and there were college guys leading that huddle, and them being so bold about their faith. That was just an amazing moment for me in who I became. From that moment on, FCA has been a part of my life."
