Alex Kauffman Named MIAA Wrestler of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Central Oklahoma 184-pounder Alex Kauffman was named MIAA Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Kauffman had two easy wins as No. 1 ranked Central Oklahoma cruised past MIAA foes Fort Hays State and Central Missouri. The Bronchos improved to 11-1 overall this season and are now 3-0 in MIAA duals.

The senior from Vinita, Oklahoma, Kauffman had a 12-2 major decision against Fort Hays State's Bryce Westmoreland. Kauffman tallied three takedowns and a near-fall in an easy bonus-point victory. He also cruised to an 8-2 win over Central Missouri's Zachary Hazen where he also scored three takedowns.

Kauffman improved to 8-1 on the season with his wins this week.

No. 1 Central Oklahoma hosts No. 8 Adams State Friday at 5 p.m. at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos also host No. 3 Nebraska Kearney on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. in the final dual of the regular season. UCO is hosting the NCAA Super Regional tournament on Sunday, Feb. 26 beginning at 9 a.m. at Hamilton Field House. The 2023 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships are scheduled for March 10-11 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
