Shawn Streck Named MIAA Wrestler of the Week

UCO Heavyweight Led Team To National Runner-Up Finish Last Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Shawn Streck was named MIAA Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, following a standout performance by the University of Central Oklahoma heavyweight All-American.

Streck had a dominating weekend in helping lead No. 1 UCO to a runner-up finish in the NWCA Division II National Duals in Louisville, Ky. The second-ranked junior heavyweight went 4-0 with three bonus wins as the Bronchos finished 3-1, losing a close 19-16 finals decision to St. Cloud State.

Streck rolled to 20-8 and 20-6 major decisions in his first two matches, then had a first-period fall over the No. 6-ranked individual from West Liberty in the national semifinals. He posted an easy 10-3 win against St. Cloud State and finished with weekend with 24 takedowns.

Streck is 15-0 this season, with 11 bonus-point wins. He and the top-ranked Bronchos are scheduled to host Colorado State-Pueblo Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.
