Biography

Reigning national champion and Division II Wrestler of the Year who is a dominating force at the end of the lineup for the Bronchos … Became UCO’s first-ever heavyweight national champion last season in capping unbeaten campaign … Will miss the first part of the season due to semester limitations, but that layoff won’t affect this senior star and two-time All-American … Agile, mobile big man who overwhelms opposing heavyweights with relentless style and is constantly on the attack, particularly on his feet … Nearly impossible to score on and is focused on capturing a second national title … Is 38-2 with 24 bonus-point wins in two seasons at UCO and will continue to rack up plenty of points … Division I national qualifier at Purdue in 2017-18, then didn’t complete collegiately again until coming to UCO in January of 2022.

2022-23: Missed first month recovering from off-season surgery, then put together perfect 26-0 record with 16 bonus wins … Owned an astounding 103-1 advantage in takedowns, with that one takedown the only offensive points he allowed all season … Had a string of seven straight bonus wins during one stretch … Saw first action at the Drury Open and went 5-0 with four bonus wins to win that title … Also took gold medal at the rugged Midwest Classic, earning three bonus wins and clipping Glenville State’s Jared Campbell 3-2 in the finals … Went 9-0 in duals, with his closest match an 8-3 decision … Opened Super Regional IV Tournament with first-period fall and 21-7 major decision, then edged Ouachita Baptist’s Johnny Green 2-1 in the finals … Was No. 1 seed at national tournament and went 4-0 against a loaded field to become school’s first-ever heavyweight champion … Gave up lone takedown of season in 8-3 quarterfinal win over Juan Edmond-Holmes of Lander … Downed Green 6-3 in semifinals, then had four takedowns in cruising past Campbell 8-3 for the title … Was named Super Regional IV Wrestler of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association and followed that up by earning Division II Wrestler of the Year honors.

2021-22: Didn’t appear in lineup until late January and went on to finish 12-2 with eight bonus-point wins while racking up 49 takedowns … Scored falls in first three matches and lifted UCO to 18-17 win over eventual national champion Nebraska-Kearney with 5-2 win over Lee Herrington in final bout … Didn’t give up an offensive point and outscored three opponents 49-11 in winning Super Regional IV title … Opened national tournament with 15-3 major decision in prelim match, then edged returning runner-up Western Hunt of Colorado Mines 3-2 and Herrington 3-1 in sudden victory to make the semifinals … Dropped tough 3-2 decision there to eventual champion Darrell Mason of Minnesota State-Mankato … Was forced to default last two matches after suffering injury early in consolation rematch with Hunt to finish sixth in earning All-America honors.

Purdue: Redshirted in 2016-17, then won 30 matches with six falls in qualifying for national tournament the next season ... Was named to Amateur Wrestling News' All-Rookie Team ... Placed in five tournaments, including fifth at the prestigious Las Vegas Invitational and seventh at the rugged Big 10 Championships in advancing to national tourney ... Went 2-2 at nationals, knocked out 13th-seeded Billy Miller of Edinboro in the first round 11-5 before dropping 4-2 sudden-victory decision to Duke’s fourth-seeded Jacob Kasper ... Won 12-3 major decision in first consolation match, then was eliminated by eventual All-American Sam Stoll of Iowa.

High School: Enjoyed tremendous career at Merrillville (Ind.) High School as four-time state placer, finishing with 175-8 career record  ... Undefeated (91-0) state champion as a junior and senior, pinning seven consecutive opponents at the state tournament in that span ... Was the nation’s second-ranked heavyweight by all major outlets and listed as the No. 27 overall recruit of the Class of 2016 by InterMat and No. 29 by FloWrestling.
