No. 3 Central Oklahoma Blanks ESU

EDMOND – No. 3 Central Oklahoma got it going early and never wavered in a 7-0 shutout of Emporia State Saturday morning at Broncho Courts.
 
Central improved to 9-1 on the season with the win and the Bronchos are now 2-0 in the MIAA.
 
"We played well today," UCO head women's tennis coach Joe Vann said. "We played well and with good energy. Great way to start a back-to-back weekend with a solid conference sweep."
 
Central Oklahoma is also hosting Newman Sunday at 11 a.m. at Broncho Courts.
 
Saturday, the Bronchos top two doubles team blew through the competition to get Central an early point in the match.
 
Mae Canete and Christine Canete, the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the country, won 6-1 not long before Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Tizia Brocks won by the same score.
 
Abidullina followed doubles play with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles to give the Bronchos a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
Christine was finished moments later at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory to make it 3-0.
 
Grace Chadick clinched the match for the Bronchos, taking a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles to give Central a 4-0 lead in the match.
 
Lexi Penn (6-4, 6-0), Brocks (6-1, 6-4) and Nikki Boyar (7-6, 6-1) all won as well to push the score to a perfect 7-0.
