Bronchos Place Four In Viking Open

POTEAU, Okla. (Nov. 11) – Barrett Haemker captured the 174-pound title to lead a small contingent of Central Oklahoma individuals who competed in the Viking Open Saturday.

Christian Arriola was runner-up at heavyweight, while 184 Garrett Wells finished second and 125 Guy Clevenger fourth wrestling as unattached entries.

Haemker went 4-0 on the day. The redshirt freshman followed a first-round bye with a 15-0 technical fall, 14-4 major decision and 2-0 shutout before pulling out a 3-1 sudden-victory decision in the finals.

Arriola waltzed into the finals with two falls and shutouts of 5-0 and 10-0. The junior big man dropped a tough 1-0 finals decision to Ouachita Baptist's Johnny Green.

Wells won four matches in making the finals at 184. Clevenger reeled off four straight consolation wins in bouncing back from a second-round loss to make the consolation finals before reaching his six-match limit.

The Bronchos will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to St. Charles, Mo. for the Lindenwood Open.
