The University of Central Oklahoma athletic department's annual Academic Awards Banquet could not be held in 2021 as the ongoing pandemic continues to alter operations.
Similar to 2020, the athletic department is still recognizing those student-athletes for their superior achievements in the classroom. Up next for recognition of this week's festivities are the Burget Scholarship Award winners.
The Burget Scholarship is a financial award given to qualified student-athletes in need who have been nominated by their coach, written a letter to the Burget family, and chosen by the committee. Don Burget was a three-sport letterman for the Bronchos who left an endowed scholarship in his name to help current students enjoy the same experience he had at Central.
