No. 4 Central Oklahoma Blanks Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team cruised to a 7-0 league win Saturday over Emporia State.
 
The Bronchos, ranked No. 4 in the country, improved to 12-1 with the win, which was its 10th consecutive victory dating back to February.
 
UCO jumped out to a lead with a doubles sweep.
 
Lexi Penn and Lotte Lesscher Y Post won 6-1 at No. 3 before Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Isabella Dunlap won 6-4 at No. 1 to clinch the point. Blythe Buntrock and Nikki Boyar also won 6-4 at the No. 2 position.
 
In singles play, Paola Landin was the first done after a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3. Boyar made it 3-0 Central with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.
 
Penn, playing for the first time this season, then clinched the match at No. 6 singles. The freshman from Texas picked up a win in doubles earlier in the day and cruised 6-3, 6-2 in singles play that gave the Bronchos a 4-0 lead and clinched the victory.
 
Buntrock also won 6-1, 6-3. Dunlap won 6-2, 6-4, and Mae Canete won 6-4, 6-1 to complete the sweep.
 
Central Oklahoma has now blanked six opponents this season, including four in the MIAA. The Bronchos are 5-0 in league play this season and have won those matches by a combined 34-1.
 
UCO is back in action Sunday with another MIAA matchup at Newman.
