No. 5 Central Sweeps The Weekend

HAYS, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team won 7-0 for the second time in as many days in league play Sunday with the Bronchos blanking Fort Hays State.
 
Central Oklahoma is now 8-1 this season and 2-0 in MIAA play after beating Nebraska Kearney by the same score Saturday afternoon.
 
Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Isabella Dunlap cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles before Mae Canete and Paola Landin clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2. Blythe Buntrock and Nikki Boyar also picked up a 6-2 win at No. 3 to make it a clean sweep in doubles play.
 
Dunlap was first to finish in singles play, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot in the lineup to give Central a 2-0 lead. Canete made it 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot and Abidullina was right behind her with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 to clinch the victory for the Bronchos.
 
Landin won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Boyar won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6, and Buntrock won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 to complete the clean sweep.
 
Central Oklahoma has won six in a row overall this spring and has outscored its opponents 36-3 in that stretch. UCO is back in action with a non-conference midweek match at Midwestern State. The Bronchos will resume conference play with home matches against Washburn and Northwest Missouri this weekend.
