No. 5 Bronchos Lop The Lopers

KEARNEY, Neb. – The University of Central Oklahoma won early and often in its first MIAA match of the 2021 season Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos beat Nebraska Kearney 7-0.
 
Central Oklahoma, currently ranked fifth in the nation, is now 7-1 this season, 1-0 in league play, and have a five-match win streak going following Saturday's sweep of UNK. Central has won five in a row by a combined 29-3.
 
Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Isabella Dunlap picked up a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Mae Canete and Paola Landin won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to give Central an early 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Canete played at No. 1 singles for the second time this season and she picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory to improve to 7-0 this season. Abidullina swapped with Canete at No. 2 and she won 6-0, 6-2 to improve to 7-1 this season.
 
Dunlap won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 and Landin won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Blythe Buntrock won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Nikki Boyar won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 to make it a clean sweep for the Bronchos.
 
Central Oklahoma will pick back up Sunday morning with a second match in as many days. The Bronchos visit Fort Hays State at 11 a.m.
