Bronchos Plaster OCU

EDMOND (Nov. 10) – Paxton Rosen, Kalin Winkler, Dalton Abney and Braden Morgan all posted falls as Central Oklahoma overwhelmed outmatched Oklahoma City Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House.

The fourth-ranked Bronchos earned nine bonus-point wins in a 48-(-1) drubbing of the NAIA No. 11-rated Stars, who were deducted a team point during the 174-pound match. UCO allowed just two offensive points in the rout while holding a 35-1 takedown advantage in its home opener.

"Our guys were ready to go and we did a lot of good things tonight," head coach Todd Steidley said. "I liked how aggressive we were, but we had some sloppy moments that we need to clean up."

Rosen racked up a 15-1 lead before getting his fall at the 3:41 mark in the opening bout at 125, while Winkler had seven takedowns prior to ending his 174-pound match at 3:47.

Abney got his pin in the final minute after building an 11-2 lead in his season debut at 197 and Morgan capped the dual with a first-period fall at heavyweight.

The Bronchos also got bonus-wins from 133 Tanner Cole, 141 Nate Keim, 157 Ty Lucas, 165 Anthony DesVigne and 184 Heath Gray.

Cole had five takedowns in cruising to a 12-3 major decision, Keim had a takedown and four near-falls in picking up a 16-0 technical fall in just 1:51 and Lucas had three takedowns in a 11-1 major decision.

DesVigne piled up more than five minutes riding time in an 8-0 shutout and Gray racked up seven takedowns in a 17-6 major decision. It was the 42nd consecutive win for the defending national champion.

Brik Filippo prevailed in the closest match of the night at 149, pulling out a tough 3-1 win on a takedown with 44 seconds left.

UCO's second-team unit blitzed Carl Albert State College 38-8 in an exhibition dual before the main event. Peter Rolle (141), Messimore (149), Hunter Jump (165), Alex Kauffman (184) and Christian Arriola (Hvy) all had falls to lead the way.

The Bronchos are back in action Sunday, hosting No. 13-ranked Division II rival Indianapolis at 2 p.m.
