UCO Cruises In Home Finale

EDMOND - The University of Central Oklahoma tennis team completed Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play Sunday with a 7-0 walkover of Lindenwood at Broncho Courts.

Central Oklahoma improved to 14-3 on the season with the win and finished the 2019 MIAA slate 8-1. The Bronchos will be the No. 2 in the MIAA Postseason Tournament later this month in Oklahoma City.

Lindenwood, which is 0-14 overall this season, only had four players to put on the courts Sunday.

Adel-Byanu Abidullina and Kirtana Bhat teamed up at No. 1 doubles and won easily 6-1. Sarah Van Eeckhoudt and Alix Williams were up 2-0 at No. 2 before Lindenwood defaulted the match to the Bronchos. Jessica Le and Nikki Boyar took a forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

In singles competition, Isabella Dunlap won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Paola Landin won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, and Bhat won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 to give UCO a 4-0 lead in the match, enough to clinch. Lindenwood again defaulted, giving Van Eeckhoudt a win at No. 4 singles, and Williams and Le took forfeits at No. 5 and No. 6 to make it 7-0, Central.

UCO will play a pair of non-conference matches this week before opening the MIAA Tournament in two weeks. The Bronchos will visit Cameron and Midwestern State to close out the regular season.

Central Oklahoma also honored Bhat, Williams, and Van Eeckhoudt after the match. The seniors played their final regular season home match Sunday. Those three have combined for 320 wins over the past four seasons in the Bronze & Blue.
