Bronchos 20th In Mat Rankings

FAYETTE, Iowa (Feb. 18) -- Central Oklahoma dropped to 20th in the final regular season tournament rankings released by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association Monday.

The Bronchos of third-year head coach Todd Steidley have three individuals ranked in the top 12 at their respective weight and finished with 20 points in the poll. Defending national champion St. Cloud State topped the rankings, followed by Wheeling Jesuit.

Heath Gray leads UCO's individuals, holding down the No. 2 spot at 184 pounds. Greg Wilson is ranked 10th at heavyweight and Colton Looper is 12th at 197.

Gray leads the Bronchos with a 29-1 record that includes 18 bonus-point wins, while Looper is 22-7 with a team-high 10 falls and Wilson is 6-2 since joining the team for the second semester.

Central -- which finished 12-4 in duals this season -- returns to action at the Super Regional IV Tournament Saturday in St. Charles, Mo., with the top-three finishers at each of the 10 weights advancing to the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships March 8-9 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Six of the 10 teams in that regional are ranked in the top 20 -- No. 4 McKendree, No. 9 Lindenwood, No. 10 Fort Hays State, No. 12 Maryville, No. 18 Newman and UCO.
