McLeod, Bronchos Blank Newman

EDMOND (Feb. 16) – Sydney McLeod had another dominating performance in the pitching circle to lead Central Oklahoma to a 3-0 shutout of Newman Saturday afternoon in the Raising Cane's Softball Invitational.

McLeod tossed a complete-game four-hitter, striking out four and walking two in improving to 5-1.  The junior left-hander stretched her personal scoreless streak to 19 straight innings in posting a second consecutive complete-game shutout.

The Bronchos improved to 10-1 with their sixth straight win.  UCO returns at 5 p.m. to take on Southwestern Oklahoma, then returns Sunday to play Colorado-Colorado Springs at 11 a.m. and Northwestern Oklahoma at 3 p.m.

Central managed just five hits in the contest, with Carli Jones providing two doubles.

Jones led off the second inning with her first double of the game and went to third on an error that allowed Lexy Dobson to reach second before both scored on Casady Webb's one-out single up the middle.

It stayed 2-0 until the sixth when JoBi Heath banged a one-out double off the wall in right-center field and Jones followed with an RBI double to right on the first pitch she saw.
