OKLAHOMA CITY (April 27) – Jayden Chestnut threw a five-hit shutout and Bailey Thompson had three hits with a pair of runs batted in to lead Central Oklahoma past Northwest Missouri 4-0 in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Postseason Tournament elimination game Friday afternoon at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

It was the second clutch win of the day for the never-say-die Bronchos, who improved to 32-21 and advanced to a 6:30 elimination game against the loser of the Emporia State-Lindenwood winner's bracket finals contest.  A win there would move UCO into Saturday's 11 a.m. finals.

"I'm so proud of this team for the way they've came out and battled today," head coach Cody White said.  "We've got our backs to the wall and these players have responded.  There's still a long ways to go, but we're still playing so at least there's a chance."

Chestnut has been a workhorse in the circle for the Bronchos, having pitched 21 of the team's 26 innings.  The junior star went 11 innings Thursday as UCO went 1-1, then came on to throw three innings of one-hit relief in picking up the save in Friday morning's 3-1 win over Missouri Western.

Chestnut went the distance against the Bearcats, scattering five hits while walking just one and striking out two in an 83-pitch outing.  She improved to 18-6 with her sixth shutout of the season.

Thompson led UCO's 10-hit attack with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate from her lead-off spot.  Carrie Abrams and Lexy Dobson added two hits apiece.

The two teams battled to a scoreless standoff through four innings before Central finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth.

Casady Webb led off that inning with a triple to right field and she trotted home with the game's first run on Thompson's single to center field.  Thompson was thrown out trying to steal second, but Abrams doubled to left field and Morgan Heard followed with a double to right-center to make it 2-0.

The Bronchos scored two more in the sixth to give Chestnut a 4-0 cushion.

Dobson started things with a single to center field and moved to second on Carli Jones' sacrifice before Allie Eicher delivered a pinch-hit RBI double to right-center.  Thompson came through with a two-out run-scoring triple to right field to end the scoring.
