TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 7) –
Brooke Zukerman's two-run triple staked Central Oklahoma to an early lead and the Bronchos knock off No. 13-ranked Missouri-St. Louis 9-4 here Saturday night in bracket play of the NFCA Leadoff Classic.

The Bronchos won their pool despite dropping a 2-1 decision to Colorado State-Pueblo in their first game of the day and then edged the Tritons in the opening round of play in the Gold Bracket.

UCO, now 3-1 on the season, takes on No. 3 Dixie State at 11 a.m. Sunday in the semifinals and then will play in either the championship game or third-place contest at 1 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

"We played pretty well today," head coach Cody White said.  "We didn't do much offensive and had a couple of defensive breakdowns that hurt us against Pueblo, but we bounced back strong and that was good to see."

The Bronchos had 13 hits in the win over UMSL, getting two-hit outings from Zukerman, Shelby Carel and Ashleigh Tramel.

Zukerman's two-run triple in the top of the first inning gave UCO a quick lead and that became a 5-1 advantage in the second behind Tori Collet's two-run home run and Zukerman's run-scoring single.

Collet added an RBI double in the third, Joely Rogers a pinch-hit RBI double in the fifth and Ally Dziadula a two-run homer in the sixth to push the advantage to 9-1 before the Tritons scored their final three runs in the bottom of that frame.

Jessi Walker picked up the pitching win, her second of the tournament.

UCO took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against CSU-Pueblo when Kaylee Brunson led off with a single, stole second and scored on Dziadula's base hit.

That slim lead stood up until the bottom of the sixth when the Thunderwolves pushed across both their runs and UCO couldn't answer back in its final at bat.
