Shockers Too Much For UCO

WICHITA, Kan. (Nov. 4) – Turnovers and poor shooting proved to be a bad combination for Central Oklahoma here Sunday afternoon as Wichita State handed the Bronchos a 69-33 exhibition setback.

UCO committed 36 turnovers and shot just 28.6 percent (12-of-42) from the field in the lopsided loss, with most of that damage coming in the first 20 minutes.

The Bronchos hit just 4-of-22 shots in the opening half and turned the ball over 11 times over the final eight minutes while being outscored 17-1 to trail 35-9 at intermission.

UCO was outscored by 10 (34-24) in the second half, but the damage had already been done.

Courtney Harper had 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals to pace the Bronchos, who finished 0-of-6 from 3-point range.

Harper had two layups in the first five minutes as the Shockers led just 6-4, but UCO didn't score again until the 9:01 mark on a Jordan Ward layup that made it 18-8. McKenzie Solberg had the only point the rest of the half, making one of two free throws with 2:08 left.

The Bronchos finish their three-game exhibition schedule Wednesday, going to Stillwater to meet Oklahoma State at 7 p.m.
