EDMOND (Feb. 16) –
Four players scored in double figures and Central Oklahoma continued its dominance over Texas Woman's Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House with an 81-63 Lone Star Conference North Division victory.

The Bronchos never trailed in beating TWU for the 19th straight time, getting 29 points and nine rebounds from Ashley Beckley along with contributions from plenty of others.

Alyssa Fuxa was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line in scoring 15 points, while Courtney Allen made three 3-pointers in adding 13 points and Britney Morgan had 11 points and six assists.

UCO improved to 15-7 overall with its sixth consecutive home win and took over sole possession of second place in the LSC North at 8-2. The Pioneers fell to 16-9 and 7-3.

“They've got a very good team and knew it was going to be a battle,” UCO coach Guy Hardaker said.  “They punched us in the mouth early, but we responded and got a really good win.”

The Bronchos had season-best shooting performances from the field (25-of-44, 56.8 percent) and the line (26-of-28, 92.9 percent) in going over the 80-point mark for the ninth time this season, including the fifth in a row at home.

Beckley was virtually unstoppable, hitting 11-of-13 shots and 7-of-9 foul shots in finishing with the second-highest scoring game of her stellar career. The senior forward scored 16 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, had 18 at halftime and scored six straight during one second-half stretch to keep UCO safely in front.

The game was tied only once, at 2-2 in the first minute, with Beckley's three-point play at the 18:43 mark breaking that deadlock and giving the Bronchos a lead they would never relinquish.

It was a one-point game at 11-10 six minutes in when Kylie Mayes, Morgan and Beckley scored consecutive layups in a 6-0 run that made it 17-10. UCO's lead reached double digits at 31-20 when Morgan made a pair of free throws with 6:21 left and the Bronchos went on to take a 13-point cushion (43-30) into intermission.

Fuxa scored four straight points to open the second half and push the advantage to 47-30, but the Pioneers tried to get back in the contest with a 9-2 run to pull within 49-39.

The Bronchos would have none of that, however, reeling off seven unanswered points to re-establish a 17-point lead at 56-39 with 13:06 left to play. Heather Davis drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to start the run, Beckley followed with an easy layup off a pass from Allen and Allen ended it with a layup on an assist from Beckley.

TWU got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.

UCO resumes league play Saturday, going to Ada to take on East Central at 2 p.m.
