EDMOND (Jan. 6) -- An early second-half surge turned a slim Central Oklahoma lead into an eight-point Tarleton State advantage and the Bronchos never recovered in dropping an 86-74 decision Thursday night at Hamilton Field House.

UCO led 42-39 just over a minute into the second half on a short Alyssa Fuxa jumper, but the TexAnns reeled off 11 unanswered points in a two-minute span to go on top 50-42 and take control.

The Bronchos got no closer than six points the rest of the way en route to losing their third straight home game.  Tarleton improved to 10-1 with its sixth straight win, while UCO fell to 6-5.

Fuxa had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the Bronchos, while Ashley Beckley had 16 points -- making the first 3-pointer of her four-year career in the first half -- and freshman Tarrington Oakes a career-high 14.

The TexAnns hauled in 19 offensive rebounds in outscoring UCO 44-24 in the paint, getting 21 points from Morgan Stehling and 20 from Shelby Adamson.

There were 17 lead changes and eight ties in the contest, most of that coming in a spirited first half that ended with the Bronchos on top 38-37.

A Fuxa 3-pointer gave UCO a 36-34 lead with 1:10 left in the half, but Tarleton came back with a trey of its own to move in front 37-36 before Fuxa ended the scoring with a pair of free throws at 0:36 to give the Bronchos the lead at the break.

Tarleton regained a 38-37 lead in the opening seconds of the second half, with back-to-back buckets by Beckley and Fuxa giving UCO the 42-39 lead with 18:53 left in the game.

That's when the TexAnns took charge, going on their 11-0 run to take a 50-42 lead and eventually pushing that to a big 19-point bulge at 78-59 with 6:52 left.  The Bronchos made a late charge to get within eight (82-74) with 1:35 left, but it wasn't nearly enough.

UCO is back at home again Saturday afternoon, entertaining Midwestern State at 2 p.m.
