RICHARDSON, Texas (June 15) – Central Oklahoma wrestling standout Dustin Finn finished runner-up in voting for the 2009-10 Lone Star Conference Male Athlete of the Year, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.

Abilene Christian's Cyril Bouniol claimed the top honor after winning the NCAA Division II national championship in golf this spring, earning 22 points in voting of LSC sports information directors to finish seven points ahead of Finn.  Twelve student-athletes in a variety of sports received at least one point in the balloting.

A senior out of Westmoore High School, Finn overcame a major mid-season injury to became the most successful heavyweight wrestler in UCO's illustrious history in March when he earned All-America honors for the third straight year.

Finn suffered a back injury in early January and underwent surgery on Jan. 14, missing the final six weeks of the regular season.  He returned for the Super Region Two Tournament on Feb. 28 and, despite having had little practice time, earned an NCAA Division national tournament berth with a runner-up finish.

Finn went on to place third in the national tournament, rebounding from a last-second semifinal loss to win his last two matches and place third in becoming UCO's first-ever three-time heavyweight All-American.   He finished with a 28-6 record, losing only to a trio of Division I competitors and the eventual Division II national finalists while knocking off the defending Division I national champion during the season.

Finn ended with an 89-17 career record, an .840 winning percentage that ranks as the ninth-best in school history.

Angelo State's Aisha Adams was selected as the LSC Female Athlete of the Year.  UCO soccer star Alli Miller finished fourth in the voting.
