Second-Round Struggles

AMARILLO, Texas (May 3) – A promising start soon went by the wayside and Central Oklahoma's Cassy Knight continued to struggle in the NCAA Division II Super Regional Four Tournament here Monday.

Knight birdied the par-4 10th hole to start her round and followed with a par, but the senior then made five bogeys and a double bogey the rest of the nine to make the turn at 42.  It only got worse on the back nine, with four double bogeys leading to a 46 for a season-worse 88.

Tascosa Country Club's slick greens gave Knight the most trouble as the two-time Lone Star Conference champion needed 44 putts in Monday's round.

Final-round play in the three-day, 54-hole qualifying tournament begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, with Knight set to tee off at 8:40 a.m.  Click here to follow live scoring of the tournament.

“Cassy has been really struggling on the greens and it's affecting the rest of her game,” UCO coach Michael Bond said.  “She just hasn't been able to get her putter going and it's been really frustrating for her.

“Hopefully she can come out tomorrow and finish up with a good round.”

Tarleton State has a 12-shot lead in the team race heading into Tuesday's final round.
