PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Oct. 15) -- Central Oklahoma struggled on the first day of the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational here Monday, shooting an opening-round 337.
Coach Patty Coatney's Bronchos are 13th in the 18-team field heading into Tuesday's final round. Host Nova Southeastern shot a sizzling 289 to take the team lead by 10 shots over Rollins, with Barry third at 311.
Raelynn Farthing had the low score for UCO at the par-72 PGA National Squire Course with an 81. The Bronchos also got an 83 from Sara Williams, while Maria Jimenez shot 85, Morgan Taylor 88 and Mary Sue Sample 93.
"We didn't play like we have the last couple of weeks and when you're struggling on this course it's going to show," Coatney said. "Hopefully we can bounce back and play better tomorrow."
It's the final fall tournament for the Bronchos, who were coming off a season-best fifth-place finish at their own Broncho Masters Fall Classic.
