Izumi Asano joined the University of Central Oklahoma tennis program as a graduate assistant in January 2024. 

The Japan native and former University of Las Vegas standout assists the program in day-to-day operations in addition to coaching duties on the court. Asano helped Central Oklahoma to an 8-10 overall record in 2024 and a fifth-place finish in the MIAA standings. The Bronchos lost in the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinals. 

In her second season with the program, Asano helped Central Oklahoma once again reach the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship, this time taking home the title. The Bronchos earned the league's automatic qualification into the NCAA national tournament. 

Asano was a five-year standout at UNLV, earning all-conference honors numerous times in her career. She earned All-Mountain West Singles honors four times and Doubles honors three times.
