Brett McLaughlin joined the University of Central Oklahoma in 2024 and serves as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Support Services.

McLaughlin oversees all the academic eligibility requirements for all 14 varsity sports at UCO, as well as providing guidance and connections for support services provided by the university. Additionally, he has oversight of Central's facilities and operations within the athletic department.  

McLaughlin joined UCO’s athletic department after spending six years at Emporia State University and one year at Wichita State University. He joined Emporia State in 2017 as the Director of Marketing, was promoted to assistant athletic director, associate athletic director and then Senior Associate Athletic Director of External Operations in 2022.

The Mooresville, North Carolina native received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He has a Masters in Global Leadership and Management from Friends University and a Masters of Education in Sport Management from Wichita State University.

McLaughlin has served on the MIAA’s Basketball Championships Committee, Regional Advisory Committees, was floor producer for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, a conference representative for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and has been active with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Brett and his wife, Joey, have two children, Hallie and Brock, and their dog, Winnie.
