Serving as UCO’s student assistant coach this season is Cort Petersen, a two-time All-American who ended his career with the Bronchos last year.

Petersen didn’t miss a dual or tournament while starting for two years at 165 pounds. He went 32-14 as a junior in 2004-05 and finished seventh in the national tournament, then was the Midwest Regional runner-up and a sixth-place finisher last year in going 33-10.

Cort came to UCO after two years at junior college powerhouse Northwest (Wyo.) College, helping the team to a national championship as a sophomore in 2003-04. He was a two-time state champion at Wright High School in Gillette, Wyo.

Petersen is finishing work on his recreation management degree.
