Biography

Two-time All-American determined to end his career with an elusive national championship after finishing as runner-up the past two years . . . Will obviously be a prime contender for the heavyweight crown and is ready to deliver yet another stellar season at the end of the lineup for the Bronchos . . . Agile 250-pounder with great strength who will benefit from being on the mat the entire year instead of joining the team late after football as he did the previous three years . . . Four-year letterman and two-year offensive line starter for UCO whose football eligibility ended after the 2008 season . . . Is tough to score on and performs well under pressure, having come through with several clutch wins in close dual situations the last two years . . . Is 61-11 for his career, including 55-10 with 25 falls the past two seasons . . . Is looking to become the school’s first three-time heavyweight All-American as well as the first-ever heavyweight national champion.

2008-09:  Enjoyed a fabulous junior year, going 26-4 with 12 falls en route to winning the regional title and finishing as national runner-up . . . Started the season 8-0 with seven falls and was 14-1 with 11 falls at one point . . . Went 5-1 in six overtime matches, including back-to-back 4-3 tiebreaker wins in the semifinals and finals of the regional . . . Opened the national tournament with an easy 11-5 win, then pulled out a 2-1 victory and a 3-1 overtime triumph to make the finals . . . Fell to top-ranked Cy Wainwright of Newberry 6-4 in the championship bout . . . Won the Fort Hays State Open, was runner-up at the Missouri Valley Open and placed third at the Nebraska-Kearney Open during the regular season . . . Joined the team in late November after helping lead UCO’s football team to the Lone Star Conference North Division title, earning LSC North Division Offensive Lineman of the Year Honors . . . Took a brief break from the mat in January to play in the NCAA Division II all-star football game.

2007-08:  Put together a sensational season, going 29-6 with a team-high 13 falls in winning the regional crown and earning All-America honors with a national runner-up finish . . . Played every snap as a starting offensive lineman for the football team before joining the team in late November and placed third in the Fort Hays State Open two weeks later . . . Won nine matches by one point or in overtime . . . Pulled out a 5-3 sudden-victory decision against Central Missouri and a 2-1 tiebreaker win vs. McKendree in duals that came down to the final match to give the Bronchos those wins . . . Had a dominating effort at the Midwest Regional, scoring two falls, a major decision and a 5-2 triumph in winning that title . . . Opened the national tournament with a last-second 3-1 victory and then prevailed in back-to-back overtime wins to make the finals . . . Dropped a hard-fought 4-1 decision to Nebraska-Kearney’s unbeaten Tervel Dlagnev in the championship match.

2006-07:  Played in all 11 football games as a defensive linemen before joining the team . . . Went 6-1, placing third at the Fort Hays State Open and going 2-0 in duals . . . Only loss was 3-1 decision to FHSU All-American Andrew Ubben.

2005-06:  Lettered as a reserve defensive lineman in football and practiced with the wrestling team most of the second semester.

High School:  Oklahoman Big All-City and All-State selection in football and wrestling at Westmoore High School.

Personal:  A general business major . . . Father (John) was an All-American on UCO’s first-ever national championship team in 1979 and brother (Chris) was an All-American for the Bronchos in 2006 . . . Birthdate is Jan. 18, 1986.
