In his second year as an assistant wrestling coach is former national champion Eli Hale, who joined the staff before the 2018-19 season.

Hale helped the Bronchos to a 12-4 dual record last season and a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Division II national championships. He also helped coach a pair of All-Americans.

Hale spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Oklahoma State before transferring to UCO for his senior season in 2017-18 and he was virtually untouchable in rolling to the 125-pound national championship for the Bronchos.

Eli rolled to a perfect 24-0 record, racking up 11 major decisions and seven technical falls.  He was named the MIAA Wrestler of the Year and NCAA Division II West Regional Wrestler of the Year.

Hale outscored four opponents 60-8 in the regional tournament and then went 4-0 at the NCAA Division II Championships in becoming UCO's 44th individual national champion.  He capped his career with a 16-1 technical fall in the national finals.

Eli was a three-time letterman at OSU, placing in several tournaments during his tenure with the Cowboys.

Hale was a prep standout at Miami High School, finishing with a 135-14 career record.  He was a three-time state finalist, finishing second as a sophomore and junior before winning the title during his final year.
